Report on the “Piano Concert at Chopin Hill”
On Saturday, March 14, 2026, under a vivid blue sky without a single cloud, a grand piano was installed for one day only at ACT CITY Hamamatsu “Chopin Hill,” where the “Piano Concert at Chopin Hill” was held.
♪What is “Chopin Hill♪
It is a rooftop park at ACT CITY Hamamatsu that anyone may freely visit. Many people also use it as a place for a stroll.
A statue of “Chopin,” known as the “Poet of the Piano” for composing numerous works for the instrument, quietly watches over the park.
Ayako Suzuki, a pianist residing in Hamamatsu, gave two performances (1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. / 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.).
At all other times, the piano was made available as a street piano for residents to play freely.
With the cooperation of Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing Co., Ltd., a grand piano (SK-5) was installed for the event.
In connection with Chopin, Ayako Suzuki performed mainly pieces originating in Poland.
To ensure that everyone could enjoy the concert regardless of whether they had any experience playing the piano, she occasionally provided explanations during her performances.
At the street piano, many people, from children to adults, took the opportunity to perform.
There were performances with a double bass and parent and child piano duets. The pieces performed were also highly varied. A wide variety of melodies echoed across Chopin Hill.
Enjoying the sound of the piano, playing the piano, and having others watch their performances…
In the open space, people spent time becoming familiar with the piano in their own ways.
