2023 International Music Exchange Concert in Hamamatsu

From October 16 to 18, Hamamatsu City hosted the 2023 International Music Exchange Concert. The Japan International Music Exchange Association invited several top-class classical musicians from abroad and offered a variety of concerts throughout the country for free or at a fraction of the price for students who cannot afford hefty ticket prices and for students with disabilities that would have difficulties attending a concert venue.

The city had the musicians visit special needs schools to give the students the opportunity to experience performances from top-class musicians and to participate in international exchange through music. The concert featured world-renowned soprano (S.Tasha), baritone (Nguyen Khac Hoa), violinist (Akmaral Zhangazina), cellist (Milo Ferrazzini) and pianist (Oleg Poliansky & Francesco Cipolletta). The musicians performed famous classical pieces and the anthems of each school.

The students listened attentively to the music, clapping their hands to the rhythm of the songs and could occasionally be seen dancing to the music.

The schools visited this time were Seibu Special Needs School, Miotsukushi Special Needs School, Special Needs School for the Visually Impaired, Special Needs School for the Hearing Impaired, Hamakita Special Needs School, and Hamamatsu Special Needs School (listed in order of visit).

The concerts were filled with smiles from start to finish. Student representatives offered a word of thanks at the end of the performance. Although the concert only lasted 45 minutes, it was a great pleasure to share this moment of unity through the common language of music.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the musicians for their beautiful performances at the schools, and to all those involved in organizing the event.
